Welcome to the web page of the Porter County Auditor!

The County Auditor maintains the official financial ledger of the County; including claims payment, receipts, appropriations, and reimbursements. The Auditor assures the accuracy of the County’s financial and operating data, as well as compliance with federal, state, and county laws, ordinances and statutes.  The County Auditor also administers county personnel payroll.

Other duties include:

• Compile the budget which is submitted for County Council approval, including advertising the proposed and approved rates
• Record the official minutes, contracts, bonds, and indebtedness for the County Council & Commissioners
• Maintain exemptions and deductions
• Transfer all property deeds
• Certify property ownership
• Calculates and distributes tax revenue to taxing units in the county
• Prepare and delivers to the Auditor of State and County Treasurer a certified copy of the property, assessments, taxes, deductions, and exemptions for taxes payable in the current year.

We provide the above services through our office located in the County Administration Building in Valparaiso, Indiana.
